Business Chinese Programme

Business Chinese Programme is jointly conducted by Workforce Development Agency (WDA) and Confucius Institute, NTU. To equip participants the ability to use Mandarin in the course of work. Participants will be able to progress to different levels based on their assessed Mandarin competency. The courses are available in Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels covering Comprehensive, Conversational and Writing skills

  

  

 

Course Outline:
• Using Chinese to communicate with business partners or customers.
• Interpret various types of work-related information, such as technical information, letters, emails, diagrams, forms, procedures, work permits and licence requirement.

Criteria for Subsidy:
• Applicable only to Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents
• Register and sit for pre-course assessment tests (BCT)
• Attendance of minimum 75%
• Register and sit for post-course assessment tests (BCT)

Pre-course Assessment Details:
The assessment test (Business Chinese Test, BCT) are conducted by WDA to assess the participant's level of competency in Chinese before recommending them the appropriate course moduels. The tests are conducted on specific Saturdays afternoons at WDA's Centre for Employability Skills (CES) located at Redhill. Test fees after subsidy is $25.68.

Target Audience: 
Individuals who would need to acquire the necessary Chinese proficiency skills to handle workplace situations in which Chinese language is required.

Beginner (Comprehensive)
- Beginner module is targeted at those who have not studied Chinese language before and/or possess a Primary 3 and below Chinese language proficiency
- Participants enroling for the Beginner module are not required to attempt for pre-course test (BCT)
- Participants have to produce academic transcripts of primary and secondary/high school for proof of Chinese language proficiency

Intermediate / Advanced (Comprehensive)

- Intermediate or Advanced modules are targeted at those who possess a Primary 3 and above Chinese language proficiency.
- Enrolment is open only to individuals who have attempted the pre-course assessment tests (BCT) and received training recommendation from WDA (CES)
- Participants can only enrol for the course module stated in WDA (CES) training recommendation letter

Registration Procedures

1.    Download and complete course enrolment form

2.    Submit form accompanied with:
i) Photocopy of NRIC
ii) Photocopy of WDA (CES) Training Recommendation Letter
    (For Intermediate / Advanced modules applicants only)
iii) Fees payment

3.    Payment can be made via NETS or credit card at Confucius Institute, NTU reception counter during the following opening hours:
