A  forum was held on the September 28 afternoon at the Southern Confucius family temple garden. Attendees included Confucius’s 75th generation descendant Kong Xiangkai and numerous overseas Confucius Institute directors.

On September 26, Associate Professor Koh Hock Kiat, Director of the Confucius Institute, NTU, together with 10 other Confucius Institute directors were invited by China Hanban – the Chinese Language Council, a non-governmental and non-profit organization affiliated to the Ministry of Education of China - visited Quzhou.

After watching Quzhou Confucius's birthday celebration party’s drama - "Confucius Southern Quest" and participated in the Southern Sect ceremony, Prof Koh was deeply moved and appreciative of the history of Confucius during the Song Dynasty. “An amalgamation of Confucianism and Jiangnan features ... ... Quzhou exhibits Confucian culture," commented Prof Koh.

"Since the establishment of Confucius Institute at NTU five years ago, the Institute has been working hard to promote the Chinese culture in Southeast Asia. Confucian ideology has integrated well into Singapore Chinese culture and community in Singapore,” said Prof Koh.
